Free Online Nonograms
A nonogram is a grid-based logic puzzle. Each row and column has a series of numbers showing how many consecutive squares must be filled in, and in what order. If you solve all the clues, the filled squares form a hidden picture. They are also known as hanjie, picross or paint by logic. In this tag we bring together online nonograms to play for free in your browser.
We are preparing the first games in this section. Here you will find small 5x5 nonograms to learn the mechanics and larger grids for those who have already mastered the technique. The fun part is that you never need to guess: with patience, every square can be deduced from the clues.
How to start solving nonograms
- Start with the rows or columns that have the highest numbers.
- Look for the squares that end up filled in every possible position.
- Mark with a cross the squares that will definitely stay empty.
- Cross-check the row and column information at every step.
Nonograms train logic, concentration and deductive skills, with the added appeal of the picture that appears at the end. Children can start around age 8 with small grids, and adults find them a pastime as addictive as sudoku. For teachers, they are a great resource for working on reasoning in math class.
Read the clues, fill in the squares and reveal the hidden picture. Play nonograms for free!
