About the Game
Sigil is a megawad created by John Romero, co-creator of the iconic DOOM. Released in 2019, this set of nine new levels acts as an unofficial fifth episode of DOOM, bridging the gap between Ultimate DOOM and DOOM II. Built using the same tools as the original game, Sigil delivers an authentic and challenging experience that pays tribute to the legendary '90s saga. Even though it’s a modern release, it’s designed to run on MS-DOS, adding a retro, nostalgic twist to the gameplay.
How do you play Sigil?
Sigil sticks to the classic DOOM mechanics, where the main goal is to survive demon hordes while exploring maze-like levels, finding keys, and opening doors to progress. Players need to stay alert for traps and ambushes, as the game brings a serious challenge—especially in the later levels.
The game is played from a first-person perspective, where you control the main character (the Space Marine or Doomguy) through dark, enemy-filled environments. Exploration and careful management of ammo and health resources are key to progressing. Plus, finding hidden secrets in each level can give you major advantages—like extra ammo or powerful weapons.
