Vowel Games for Kids
Vowels are the first letters most children learn in Spanish. There are only five, A, E, I, O and U, but they appear in every word and are the basis for reading the first syllables. In this tag we've gathered vowel games for kids, designed to help them recognize the vowels, hear them and link them to words, for free and with no downloads.
We're preparing the first games in this section. Here you'll find activities to pick out each vowel among other letters, match it to the picture of a word that starts with it, listen to its sound and tell uppercase from lowercase. They're short, visual games adapted to little ones' attention spans.
What kids learn with vowel games
- Visual recognition of the five vowels.
- The sound of each vowel and phonological awareness.
- The link between letter, sound and picture.
- First steps toward reading syllables.
For parents and preschool teachers, vowels are usually taught between ages 3 and 5. Online games are a good complement to worksheets and classroom activities, always in short sessions and, ideally, with an adult nearby to repeat the sounds and encourage the child. Looking for things around the house that start with each vowel helps take the game beyond the screen.
Listen, look and find where each vowel belongs. Learn the vowels while playing for free!
