About Sort by Size

One of the first math concepts kids learn is sorting by size , and this game turns it into a very visual activity: you have to drag dinosaurs of different sizes to the train car where they belong. It is a perfect resource for working on objects of different sizes in a playful way, both at home and in the preschool classroom. If your family enjoys hands-on activities like this, you can keep practicing with the educational games for 3-year-olds from Ludorex, designed for the first notions of logic and sorting.

How do you play Sort by Size?

In each round three dinosaurs appear: one big, one medium and one small. You have to drag each one to the train car that matches its size.

  1. Look at the three dinosaurs and compare them with each other.
  2. Drag the biggest one to the “Large” car.
  3. Drag the medium one to the “Medium” car.
  4. Drag the smallest one to the “Small” car.

Sort by Size controls

What will you learn in Sort by Size?

  • Comparing sizes and ordering items from largest to smallest.
  • Learning the basic vocabulary big, medium and small.
  • Developing hand-eye coordination with drag and drop.
  • Practicing sorting by size for kids as a first step toward more complex math concepts.

Tips to Play Better: Sort by Size

  • Before dragging, compare the three dinosaurs out loud: “this one is bigger than that one.”
  • Look at height and width at the same time, not just one detail of the picture.
  • If you get it wrong, look at the whole trio again before deciding once more.
  • Play as a family and take turns explaining why each dinosaur goes in that car.
